ATHENS, Feb 9 (PRIME) -- The Russian Embassy in Greece has not received any notifications of local companies about breaking agreements on gas supplies, on the contrary, they have started buying Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG), Ambassador Andrei Maslov told PRIME on Thursday.
“Publicly, the Greek government is in favor of completely abandoning Russian gas, but it is difficult to say when Greece will have such an opportunity,” he said.
Maslov referred to data from Greece's Hellenic Statistical Authority, according to which natural gas, oil and oil products remained the main items of Greek imports from Russia in 2022.
He also said that Gazprom Export has long-term contracts for the supply of Russian gas with three Greek operators and the parties are fulfilling their contractual obligations in full.
